Make Your calories count!
Nutrient dense foods and beverages are a good source of nutrients and nutritional benefits relative to the number of calories. For foods to qualify for Raley’s Nutrient Dense standard they must meet the following requirements:
|Category||Calorie Limit||Added Sugar Limit||Sodium Limit|
|Meals||<500 calories||<10% of calories||<600mg sodium|
|Snacks||<220 calories||<15% of calories||<250mg sodium|
|Beverages||<140 calories||<5g||<150mg sodium|
In addition to our Raley’s limits on added sugar and sodium, Nutrient Dense foods must contain 10% or more of the daily value for key nutrients like:
- Vitamin A, C, or E
- Vitamin D
And be free from nitrates/nitrites, partially hydrogenated oils and trans fats, artificial colors and flavors, and common fortification ingredients like added fiber and enriched flour!
